    For the past 20 years, the Monarch Beach Sunrise Rotary Club has provided tens of thousands of hours of volunteer time servicing the local community. The following headlines are links to PDF files for just some of the highlights from the 2007-08 MBSR Service and Fellowship Activities that MBSR club members have enjoyed providing.



    COMMUNITY SERVICE (5.4MB PDF file):
    Half of our MBSR Club members joined the Community Service Committee to implement 24 projects this year. Under the direction of Russell Kerr, he ensured our commitment to ongoing projects and we expanded our service through several new projects. Below are highlights of MBSR Community Service for the 2007-08 year and presented in more detail here.

    VOCATIONAL SERVICE (2.2MB PDF file):
    MBSR's Vocational Service makes a difference in 100s of local high school students. Below are highlights of MBSR Vocational Service for the 2007-08 year and presented in more detail here.
    • MBSR's 18th Annual Vocational Day. Held on Nov 14, 2007, MBSR members hosted over 100 seniors from Dana Hills and Aliso Niguel High Schools for breakfast at our weekly meeting at the Ritz Carlton and then they "Job Shadow" MBSR members in their profession of interest.
    • MBSR's Speech and Signing Contests. The Singer of the Year contest presented us with 9 fine singers from the SOCSA (South Orange County School of the Arts) Academy at Dana Hills High School. WATCH VIDEOS ONLINE NOW....
    • Community College Scholarship Program.
    • Sending four students to RYLA Camp.
    • Student of the Month Award Program. This is MBSR's 9th year recognizing graduating seniors at Dana Hills High School on a monthly basis.



    INTERNATIONAL SERVICE (2.7MB PDF file):
    The MBSR Club continued to be active in the area of International Service in 2007-08. During the past year, the focus has been on matching grants and partnerships with other clubs to support children's education. The club continued its financial and personal support to the Rotary Foundation, 1000 Smiles Dental Clinic and GSE 2007 Chile to District 5320. The Club's Internaional Service activities are highlighted below and presented in more detail here.

    SOCIAL AND FELLOWSHIP ACTIVITIES (2.5MB PDF file):
    MBSR is very well known as the club that knows how to have fun! We have fun and fellowship in all of our service projects and we have a wonderful time at our social events. The chairs for the events were such fun people that no matter what they chose to do you just wanted to go. As always, the events were a huge hit with the club and it has proven to be a warm way to welcome new members. Below is a list of the social events for the 2007-08 year and presented in more detail here.
    • July: Members enjoyed food and fun at Doheny State Beach
    • August: Sunset Music in Heritage Park in Dana Point
    • September: Internaional Potluck Dinner Social
    • October: Halloween Party, raising money for troops at Camp Pendleton
    • November: Taste of Dana Point, enjoying fellowship at Jack's in Dana Point and raising thousands of dollars for Camp Pendleton Marines
    • December: White Elephant Exchange among MBSR Members
    • January: SUPER Super Bowl Party
    • February: MBSR celebrates its 20th Birthday in style at the Ritz Carlton
    • March: Pirates steal the show at Hospitality night at the District Conference
    • April: The BIG fundraiser, enjoying the live tunes of "Tom Jones" and raising lots of money for children's charities
