2009 YOUNG SINGER OF THE YEAR COMPETITION
DANA POINT, CALIFORNIA, Feb 25, 2009 - This year's crop of 9 singers from Dana Hills High School's SOCSA Academy arts program was a very talented bunch. At the direction of SOCSA's Artistic Director, Ray Woods, they competed with each other to move on to the YOUNG SINGER OF THE YEAR COMPETITION Semi Finals for Rotary District 5320 that will be at Winifred Smith Hall at UCI in Irvive, CA on March 21 and 22, 2009, as rated by 3 judges. This year, the club selected 3 of the 9 singers to move on to the district level, and we can be sure that will make us proud as they display their immense vocal skills. The three students going to the semi finals are Rachel Rothman (senior), Julie Wickstrom (junior) and Taylor Wahl (senior). Scroll down the page and you can watch and listen to the first, second and third place winners. We were stirred, encouraged, comforted, amused, and inspired by these wonderful students; and certainly we were reassured that our local schools continue to produce substantial young people who are preparing to assume leadership roles in their and our world. What a privilege it is to have our small part in sponsoring them and encouraging them along their paths in life.
