    MBSR President, Linda Hess, and Maestro Stefano Vignati, a Rotarian member of the Rotary Club of Viterbo, Italy, exchange Rotary Club flags on Wed, Nov 26th at the Ritz-Carlton.

    Maestro Stefano Vignati will take back MBSR's club flag to the Rotary Club of Viterbo, Italy. The town of Viterbo is located just north of Rome. View a video on the history of the acient city of Viterbo, Italy. Stefano is the Master Conductor & Artistic Director of the Tuscia OperaFestival, a new Operafestival di Roma, International Lyric Academy in Rome & Viterbo, and several Symphony Orchestras in Italy.     2008 MBSR 19th ANNUAL CAREER DAY

    November 5, 2008: Over 120 Dana Hills and Aliso Niguel High School Seniors attended Monarch Beach Sunrise Rotary's 19th annual Career Day... THE BIGGEST MBSR EVENT OF THE YEAR!

    The Monarch Beach Sunrise Rotary's 19th Annual Career Day is where MBSR members and civic minded local professionals from varying trades demonstrate to high school seniors from Dana Hills and Aliso Niguel High School the many and varied occupational choices available to students.

    This year's event was held on Wednesday, November 5, 2008 at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Dana Point in the Pavilion room on the conference level, overlooking the blue Pacific Ocean. This year's motivational speaker, Brian Verdugo, was very special to long-time MBSR members, since he himself participated in Monarch Beach Sunrise Rotary's 8th Annual Vocational Day over 11 years ago when he was a senior in high school! Today, Mr. Verdugo is the Chairman and President of iGolf.com.

    5th MARINES HONOR MBSR

    Captain Fernadez of the 5th Marines presents colors and certificate of appreciation to MBSR President, Linda Hess

    OCTOBER 29, 2008: This was a very special meeting where Captain Fernadez of the Fifth Marine Regiment based at Camp Pendleton in Oceanside, CA, presented a Certificate of Appreciate and the Flag of the United States of America that was flown over Fallujah, Iraq, to 2008-09 Monarch Beach Rotary President, Linda Hess, and to all the members of this dynamic, giving Rotary Club.

    This certificate was in recognition of the Club's assistance to the troops in country and the 5th Marine Regiment on base. From the dozens of "goodie boxes" sent to the troops in country to the more than $17,000.00 raised by MBSR members and donated directly to the Fifth Marine Regiment. This is a video shot during the weekly Monarch Beach Sunrise Rotary (MBSR) Club meeting on October 29, 2008, at the Ritz-Carlton in Dana Point, California.

    Captain Fernadez also recognized the tireless service of MBSR member and Dana Point 5th Marine Regiment Support Group Director, Terry Rifkin. The Captain also recognized the President of the Dana Point 5th Marine Regiment Support Group and former Marine, Pete Hammer, who was an honored guest at the meeting.

    Captain Juan Jose Martin Fernadez de Castro is from Miami, FL, born in Los Angeles, and has served 17 years in the United States Marine Corp. He was honored to attend the meeting of the Monarch Beach Rotary Club to present these honors.

    In honor of your remarkable support to the Marines and Sailors of the Fighting Fifth Marine Regiment. I speak for all Marines when I thank you for your steadfast loyalty, diligent service, and the dedication you continue to show to the Marines and Sailors of the Fifth Marine Regiment.

    OCTOBER 29, 2008: Rotary District 5320 Governor, Roger McGonegal was the featured speaker for today's meeting of the Monarch Beach Sunrise Rotary Club. He spoke about the many joys of service and the importance of staying involved both locally and Internationally. He talked about the District 5320 Foundation Dinner that will take place on Saturday, November 15, 2008 at 6 p.m. for the Reception and 7 p.m. for Dinner at the Norwalk Marriott Hotel13111 Sycamore Drive, Norwalk, CA. You may Register on line for this event. Roger is responsilbe for District 5320 that has 47 clubs with 2,278 members all located within 30 miles of each other, in Orange County and the best part of Los Angeles County.
