DANA POINT 5TH MARINE REGIMENT SUPPORT GROUP CAR WASH (178 images)
The following are photos from the Dana Point 5th Marine Regiment Support Group car wash fundraiser held on Saturday, September 13th. During this six hour event, we received over $10,000 in donations from our Patriotic and appreciative guests.
The proceeds of over $10,000 will go to help the needs of our brave men and women of the 5th Marine Regiment serving in Iraq and also their families here on base at Camp Pendleton in order to make their holidays special This was a terrific day and we could not have done it without the generous service above self demonstrated by the wonderful volunteers from the 5th Marine Regiment at Camp Pendelton, Monarch Beach Sunrise Rotary Club, The Boys and Girls Club and concerned local citizens and governmental agencies.
Many thanks to those that came to get their car washed AND donated their time and money at the car wash today supporting the Dana Point 5th Marine Support Group.
Seeing the community come together; police, fire, military, service clubs, old folks, young folks, and everyone in between is what it is all about. Rotary provided over 24 volunteers to run the engine of this car wash and make sure everything went smoothly. Volunteers were managed by Terry Rifkin, 20 year Rotarian and Director on the Board for the 5th Marines. Everybody felt good when they left and even some new friendships were formed.
The delicious food was provided and prepared by John and Wanda Hicks and their fabulous chef Angel at the Harbor Grill. If you have not eaten lunch or dinner there, be sure to stop in for a real treat. Today was just a sampling of the fine job that they do.
We appreciate your service and hope that we may see you again at our next Car Wash and other future 5th Marine events.
